The Impact Of Glass Painting

Glass painting is a very popular art form most commonly found in churches, and holy places the world over. This art provides a beautiful splash of color combined with light and can be truly inspiring. Sadly though many people don’t think of the potential this art form has even for use in the home itself.

People may have different reasons for writing this off for conventional use. Thinking that this style is for religious paintings or icons, or maybe that it’s out of date. Well if that were the case then we probably wouldn’t have heard about it. Glass painting goes as far back as the Egyptians and Romans. Yet for centuries now this style has made its way across Europe, Asia, and now even the whole world. Glass painting is a timeless art, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Another common misunderstanding might be that glass painting is just for windows. This couldn’t be more wrong. True you may see glass windows every day. But even more true is that many glass surfaces are suitable for painting on, not just windows. So you don’t have to worry about not having enough in a room to go with it. The applications of glass painting is endless. You can obtain anything from three dimensional painted glass figures, to ornamental dishes, boxes, lamps, wall fixtures, and wine glasses. The list doesn’t even end there, but the point is to give you the idea. So the truth is that there are plenty of things to go with a window, or even without one.

Another big turnoff might be the cost. Even though designers can give professional level results they can be really expensive. But there’s a solution to that as well. The common craft stores carry all the supplies you could possibly need. Even including starter kits to get you up and running. These kits can include, various brush types, different paints, an array of tools like cutters, maybe even stencils, and frames. So you don’t have to be a professional to get some decent results. Which also leaves all the creative choice in your hands.

So what if you’re not really the creative type, or you just have trouble coming up with an idea, but you really want a glass painting? Style books are also available giving examples of how different materials and colors can coalesce. These books are filled with all sorts of good ideas that can include seasonal decorations, or themes to fit your liking.
